I know I’m doing something right when it comes to Harper’s upbringing…. sure she still doesn’t grasp the concept of sharing, the alphabet, or using the toilet… but yesterday she came up to me, looked at my feet, and upon observing my new Frye boots…. she CARESSED THEM and smiled at me. Some people expose their babies to flash cards a la Your Baby Can Read… me, I think the smell of good leather is as important as Dr. Seuss….
Next week we are having a FW session (yes, again) to commemorate Harper’s 18 month milestone, and to nab a family photo worthy of becoming our Christmas card. We have some fun plans up our sleeve… but the main goal of the shoot, as always, is to solidify Harper’s place in the pantheon of fashion. Her outfits have been carefully selected by her personal stylist, a.k.a. Me.
I love dressing my daughter in an unhealthy way and I’m the first to admit it. Does a toddler need a walk-in closet? No. Quite frankly, I know this. I also know that my daughter would be happy if she was clad in Walmart (ick, ick) Dora the Explorer gear as long as she had good shoes. (yes, she knows the difference. A few weeks ago I brought home Payless Dora shoes in order to buy her love. She rolled her eyes and brought me her See Kai Run sparkled flats… she got my genes it seems when it comes to shoes… which more than makes up for the fact that she repeatedly betrays me by liking dill pickles).
Here is a sneak peek at the outfits Miss H will be sporting next week… you can expect to see similar fashions in Paris and Milan on next season’s runways…..
Outfit One: Marie Antoinette meets 2011 Mini-Fashion Guru:)
Peek…. ‘Let Them Eat Cake’ t-shirt from www.nordstrom.com
Stride Rite Liza Mary Janes from www.zappos.com
Worn over a super cute tulle tutu and matching leggings:) I love, love, love this shirt… and Harper insists on wearing the sparkly zebra shoes around with nothing but her diaper.
Outfit Two: Classic Burberry (because I found it in her walk-in closet, previously unworn, and she still fits in a 9 month dress… Burberry runs big… BIG, I tell you.) Similar Burberry items available from www.niemanmarcus.com
Outfit Three: Gap… because I get 1/2 off there and knee high boots slow her down thus making it more possible to photograph her! (also, despite my lackluster opinion of this dress, she picked it out in the store… carried it around and handed it to the sales lady… part of raising a fashionista is let her her make a choice here and there as long as said choice isn’t an attempt to bring back MC Hammer pants)

I can’t wait to share the finished product!
