Charlie had his first Feather Whimsy experience this past Sunday. Angela was wonderful enough to come in on Sunday afternoon to work with Mr. C and shower him with lots of patience and love. This newborn shoot was a lesson in those virtues for all of us. I kept track… Charlie peed on me 3 times (once with pee dripping into a floor power socket probably running a near miss for him and myself as far as electrocution goes), tried to eat the lambs wool fuzzy at least six times, had his runny yellow clogged tear duct eye wiped clean 16 times, and stubbornly refused to be a pleasant sleeping newborn the duration of our session…
In short, it is a lucky thing that my boy is handsome. I had a slew of prop plans… which included a pedal airplane, a custom built miniature bed, a handknit newborn pod, etc. I decided last minute on Saturday to make a bird’s nest and to swaddle him. I sent my poor husband on the hour drive to Hobby Lobby for a willow wreath, located lambs wool, and handdyed some cheesecloth to swaddle him in… the end result:

Do you hear the angels singing? Are you transported to Ancient Greece? I am… I swear I squealed and danced a little post-c-section jig when Angela sent me this. This image was totally worth the near electrocution and the creepy jaundiced eyes staring Angela and I down… Swooon… I am in love with this boy. I want to cuddle him and stare at him… and I want to build a new house with a dramatic entryway… and hang this photo in it. I intend to stalk this blog in anticipation of other pictures…
Next week we’ll talk newborn props… and then I’ll spend the next 2 1/2 months plotting 3 monthers… A picture obsessed mama never rests:)
